Website localization for Romania: a checklist for international teams
A localized site should reduce questions and make the next business step easy for a Romanian visitor.

Review localization in layers. First, make the language natural and consistent. Then check the page structure, service terminology, contact options, delivery or support information and legal notices. Finally, test the path with someone who was not involved in creating the page.
Avoid translating every page before the core offer is clear. A small group of strong, focused pages can teach the team more than a large library of weak translations. Link the Romanian pages together by topic and give each one a distinct purpose.
Technical details matter as well: language attributes, canonical URLs, alternate links, image text alternatives and performance should be checked in the Romanian version, not assumed from the source site.
Localization is complete only when the business can support the promise. Align the page with the team that answers questions and delivers the service.
Localize the meaning first
Start with the value proposition and the questions a Romanian visitor asks before a commercial conversation. Review service names, examples, guarantees, limitations and the tone of the call to action. Literal translation can preserve grammar while losing meaning, especially when a technical or business term is used differently by local buyers.
Review the whole conversion path
Check the navigation, contact route, form labels, confirmation message, support expectations and legal information. The visitor should know what happens after sending an enquiry and which information is needed to receive a useful answer. A localized page that ends in an unclear or inaccessible form is not ready for business use.
Make technical signals consistent
The Romanian page should have its own stable URL, correct language attribute, canonical, metadata, accessible headings and optimized media. Add an alternate only when a genuine equivalent exists. Review structured data and internal links in the localized version instead of assuming that the source language markup will remain correct after a migration.
Validate with an independent review
Use a Romanian speaker who understands the sector but was not involved in writing the first draft. Ask them to complete a realistic task and explain unfamiliar wording. Review both the language and the decision quality: can the reader understand the scope, compare options and contact the right team?
Maintain localization as content
Products, services and rules change. Assign ownership for updates and keep a short checklist for terminology, links, images and forms. A local digital partner can support recurring reviews, but the international company should retain access to the domain, source content and measurement data.
